QueSPER Information Literacy Curriculum

Grade One

Teaching Goal: Help Each Student Develop Curiosity

The student will:

  • Review knowledge in kindergarten curriculum
  • Observe and describe objects, pictures, letters, numbers (How things are alike, how things are different)
    • color
    • shape
    • size
    • weight
    • texture
    • composition (what things are made of)
    • actions
  • Match objects, pictures, letters, numbers, names
  • Sort objects into categories
  • Read. listen and and talk to others
  • Recognize authors and illustrators and what they do
  • Recognize a  research process: (Question, Search, Produce, Evaluate, Reflect)
    • Develop questioning skills
    • Begin searching skills
  • Make connections between home and school learning.
  • Increase personal independence and responsibility in using the library
  • Use a computer as a tool for learning (parts of computer, keyboarding, websites, beginning production)
